Library

At present the library has got about 15000 copies of books including textbooks, reference books, journals, magazines, news letters etc. The library offers open access to its shelves. Books are kept classified shelf arrangement. The library is well organized by the able librarianship of a Russian accomplished lady Ms. Arena Ashraf who is assisted by an assistant librarian and three other staff members.

  1. Library System
  • A library card is required for a student to avail himself of the library services. It must be presented at the control desk before entering the premises of the library. 
  • A Security Deposit (refundable) is required to obtain a library card.
  • After using the books, the students put them back on the book racks or at the counter.
  • Most of the books are available for circulation and may be borrowed for overnight and may be renewed after proper request; otherwise a fine will be imposed as per library policy. A student can borrow a maximum of two books at a time. Periodicals and reference books are to be used only inside the library.
  • The materials in the reserved section can be used only inside the library.
  • Overnight loans are on first come first served basis. A student must secure a reservation form from the librarian. It is required to be returned within the first working hour of the following day or a fine is imposed.

  1. Library Discipline
    • Library users must observe silence.
    • Idle conversation and other unnecessary noise must be avoided.
    • Students should keep the library clean.
    • Students should keep things in order, and arrange the chairs before leaving.
    • Smoking, eating, and drinking are strictly prohibited inside the library.
    • Vandalism of any sort shall be dealt with seriously.
    • Books must be returned to the shelves properly.
    • Books and other reading material should be handled with care.

      c. Suspension of Library Privileges

                Students caught hiding or stealing books or any other library property,
tearing out pages of books or periodicals and forging signatures are subject to
suspension of their library access. The following are grounds for suspension:

    • Lending of library card to another person
    • Taking any library material out of the library without the librarian’s permission.
    • Tearing or writing on the pages of the books, or defacing it, or any form of vandalism.
    • Forging signature of library staff.
    • Lack of courtesy, misconduct or any misdemeanor with the library staff.
    • Length of suspension will be on case to case basis and will depend on the degree of the act.
