Bangladesh University (BU) is a non-profit, non-sectarian private university pioneering in computer-based education. It has been accredited by the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, and its curricula as well as programs have been approved by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh. The honourable President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh is the Chancellor of the university. It has been established under the Private University Act, 1992 and approved by the Government of Bangladesh for awarding degrees in various disciplines. The University is committed to excellence and innovation in pursuing applied knowledge through research and creative activities with the objectives of producing world class professionals responsive to the needs of the communities and the societies of Bangladesh and world at large.
Location
It is located in a posh area of the metropolis near the Parliament House at 15/1 Iqbal Road, Mohammadpur, Dhaka-1207. Some departments are housed in the vicinity at 3/3 Asad Avenue with a view to accommodate the growing number of students.
University Campus
Both the campuses of the university consist of multi-storied buildings of our own with spacious class rooms, a rich library with about 15 thousand books, a modern computer laboratory, a digital laboratory, a state-of-the-art English language laboratory, an up-to-date auditorium, two separate common-rooms – one for the male students and the other for the female students, a spacious cafeteria, a well equipped gymnasium etc. The university has provided internet facilities to the students and academic staff.
