Academic Council Board

An academic council composed of faculty members work independently under the chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor to settle academic affairs. The council meets monthly to discuss and decide issues relating to academic matters and prepare programs on courses, examinations and other related matters.

Vice Chancellor

Vice-Chancellor Quazi Azher Ali MSc, (DU), Diploma (Cambridge), MPA (Harvard) was appointed by the President of Bangladesh considering his high academic standard and long experience as Secretary in the Government of Bangladesh and Executive Director of Asian Development Bank.

Terms of Reference of the Council

  1. To discuss, guide and resolve the academic activities and problems of the university.
  2. To monitor and evaluate the various activities of the university.
  3. To review the activities and functions of different departments of the university.
  4. Registrar will convene the meeting with prior permission of the Chairman of the committee.

 

  1. Selection Committee for Appointment of Teachers and Staff

    a. Vice Chancellor      Chairman

    f. Head of the Department for which selection is sought

Terms of Reference

  1. To assess the requirement of posts 
  2. To fix the requisite qualifications, experience for posts.
  3. To make advertisements through national dailies.
  4. To examine and evaluate the applications and make short list for interviews
  5. To examine and interview the applicants and select the best and qualified candidates.
  6. Registrar will convene the meeting with prior permission of the Chairman of the committee.
  1. Finance Committee

    a. Vice Chancellor      Chairman

Terms of Reference

  1. To collect tuition fees and other dues.
  2. To examine the likely income and expenditure
  3. To prepare statement of accounts periodically
  4. To suggest ways and means to improve the accounting system.
  5. To arrange the annual audit of the accounts and place it before the Board of Trustees.
  6. Accounts Officer will convene the meeting with prior permission of the Chairman.

 

  1. Examination Committee

    a. Head of the Department of English Chairman

Terms of Reference

  1. Preparation of schedule of examination
  2. Collection of question-papers from the respective Heads of Depts by Course Co-ordinator.
  3. To take necessary preparation for printing question-papers and preservation of question-papers
  4. To make procedure of collection of dues, tuition fees and make necessary arrangement to issue admit cards.
  5. To conduct examinations smoothly.
  6. Distribution of examination scripts and collection of grade sheets from examiners.
  7. Preparation and publication of results: Preparation of tabulation sheets, grade sheets and delivery to Controller’s office for distribution to students.
  8. Preservation of results and documents.
  9. Controller will convene the meting with prior permission of the Chairman of the committee.

 

  1. Disciplinary Committee

    a. Head of the Department of Business Administration Chairman

Terms of Reference

  1. To maintain strict discipline in the university campus.
  2. To ensure that no untoward incidents happen in the campus.
  3. To keep constant vigilance in the campus during the working hours.
  4. To settle the untoward incidents (if any) and recommend necessary measures.
  5. To recommend ways and means for prevention of any undesirable occurrence.
  6. Member secretary will convene meetings with prior permission of the Chairman of the committee.

 

  1. Academic Calendar and Routine Committee

    a. Head of the Department of Business Administration Chairman

          Terms of Reference

  1. To prepare academic calendar for each academic session
  2. To collect class routine from the respective Heads of Depts before 7 (seven) days of starting classes submit it to the VC for finalization.
  3. To execute and implement academic calendar and class routine.
  4. To ensure regular and timely holding of classes according to routine and academic calendar.
  5. Registrar will convene meetings.

 

  1. Equivalence Committee

  4. To advise the Graduation Awarding  Committee
